With the need being great for hand surgery options in eastern North Carolina, Carolina Orthopedic and Sports Medicine (COSM) welcomes their newest hand surgeon, Kristin K. Warner, M.D. Dr. Warner most recently completed a Hand Surgery Fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, N.Y., which is the #1 hospital for orthopedics in the United States.
Not only is Dr. Warner board certified as an orthopedic surgeon, she is also a decorated war veteran, earning the Bronze Star in 2009 while serving in Afghanistan. Before that, she provided general orthopedic clinical and surgical care to active duty military, dependants, and retirees while serving in the United States Air Force, 56th Medical Group at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona. Dr. Warner earned undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska and then went on to the University of Nebraska Medical Center to earn her Doctor of Medicine with high distinction.
“I’m excited about assisting COSM in expanding their upper extremity services to the area and also to have the opportunity to continue my work with military families,” said Dr. Warner.
“Dr. Warner’s practice specialty will focus on traumatic, degenerative and inflammatory conditions of the hand and elbow and also certain nerve conditions of the upper extremity,” said Harold M. Vandersea, M.D., president of COSM. “She will focus on helping local patients, both non-military and military, in gaining function back to their hands and elbows and moving pain free,” he added.
Dr. Warner has also been published numerous times and involved in research as well and will continue to bring her high level of knowledge and experience to her patients in New Bern, Jacksonville and Havelock.
