How do I make an appointment?

Will Carolina Orthopedics file my insurance for me?
As a courtesy, we will bill your primary and secondary insurance companies, but patients are still responsible for full balance for services rendered.
Will I be required to pay at my appointment?
Yes. Co-pays and deductibles are required at the time of service and will be collected at check-in. If you are unable to meet your financial obligation, we will be happy to reschedule your appointment for a more financially convenient time for you.
What bills can I expect to receive after surgery?

Does my surgery/procedure require preauthorization?
Many insurance companies require pre-authorization. Prior to any planned surgery/procedure, our Pre-authorization Department will contact your insurance company to pre-authorize your surgery/procedure. It is our policy not to schedule any worker’s compensation surgeries/procedures prior to authorization being verified.
Can I pay my bill with a credit card?
Yes. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and CareCredit.
I have just received my bill and am unable to pay the balance in full. What should I do?
Please contact our Patient Accounts Department at (252) 634-2676 option 3. A Patient Account specialist will be happy to discuss payment options.
How can I obtain a copy of my medical records?
Please click the link to download the medical receords request forms or come by one of our offices to fill out the form in person. Completed release forms can be left or dropped off at the front desk or mailed, ATTN: Medical Records. HIPAA regulations allow us 30 days to provide records to you but we will do our best to have the requested records to you as soon as possible.
Is there a charge for copies of medical records?
There is a charge for medical records that must be paid prior to releasing them to you. We have contracted with a company called Healthport who handles billing for and sending the records to you. If you have any questions please call our Medical Records Department at (252) 634-2676 option 4.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
No, you do not need a doctor’s referral for orthopedic services. You can contact our office directly at 844.836.6595 to discuss this further and schedule an appointment. Patients can refer themselves however, some insurance carriers require a referral.
How do I know if I need orthopedic services?
Your doctor may refer you to an orthopedist, but you can contact our office for an appointment without a doctor’s referral. We will schedule a consultation so that we can evaluate your condition and whether the services we offer will be of benefit to you.
What do I need to bring to my appointment?
You can download and fill out our forms before you come in for your appointment. You can bring them with you or mail them. Please also bring your insurance card and picture ID.
Can you help me with any orthopedic problem?
Carolina Orthopedics has surgeons who have completed extensive and rigorous training to earn specialties in many different types of orthopedic surgery, including sports medicine, total joint replacement, hand surgery, arthroscopy, and hip/knee surgery. We also offer physical therapy, occupational therapy, and athletic training. We will consult with you to evaluate and determine your physical needs, and can help you develop a plan to achieve your goals.
